So in the last few weeks i've started on a new adventure - photography. Well i say "new" bit i grew up watching my dad in a dark room magically transform blank pieces of paper into photographs.
Obviously things have moved on since dark rooms and we now have the digital era but the art of photography is still in essence the same. Composition, timing, lighting, settings and basically patience are all still a key part of this art form. even with the use of computers.
My adventure then officially started in January 2018 when i was bought a second hand Nikon D200. A great little camera to allow me to photograph my dogs. However, one day at the Highland park in Aviemore i got carried away photographing the wolves and tigers. After sharing some of my images i was asked if i would sell some prints and i sold 4 photos there and then.
This soon grew and i put together a small limited edition collection inc " Squirrel" "Wolf" " highland calf" and "Hawk" . These sold really fast and people then asked if i would photograph their own dogs!
In August 2018 i upgraded to a Nikon D500 and on a very rainy day i built myself a home studio in the spare room! I spent 2 months learning using my own dogs ( i have 4 ) as models until i started offering my services to the public.
November 2018 i was delighted to win my first wildlife photography competition : "The Nature of Argtaty wildlife competition 2018"
November was also "charity month" and i offered free shoots in return for a bag of dog food for the local shelter - every place was booked!
December i was invited to be a part of Stirling Castle's Christmas fair with my framed photographs, a great chance for people to see my work and ask any questions.
So now its time to start 2019 with an upgraded website and a blog hopefully sharing some of my tips as i take photos both of wildlife and pets.
In the meantime please fire away with any questions and if you want to book a shoot please drop me an email anytime : firstname.lastname@example.org
