How to photograph the Moon!

January 21, 2019

Last night i had my first go at photographing the moon and i've received loads of messages asking me about my settings, my lens ...basically how did i manage to photograph the moon?

So here's how i did it:

First get yourself a DSLR camera ( I use the amazing Nikon D500) and put all the settings to manual, time to go it alone. Below is the image you get if you let the camera dictate your settings!

I used a Tamron 70-200 f2.8 lens

Set the camera up on a tripod to avoid any blur although saying that my best shot came resting it on the car roof after i'd packed my tripod away!

Set your ISO to 100 or the lowest your camera will go

Aperture settings f/16

Shutter speed for my photo was 1/125

The open it in photoshop or lightroom and just zoom i and crop

Easy peasy!

Hope this helps - please fire away with any questions

p.s. my moon shot is now available in my shop!
